Our History

E-INSURESM Services Inc. was founded by David N Thompson on December 2, 1992 as Specialty Programs, Ltd. Initially Specialty Programs was to offer special types of insurance to groups of insureds. However, in 1996 Specialty Programs, Ltd, bought the rights to the domains: einsure.com, einsurance.com and e-insure.com and e-insurance.com and created its first website to sell insurance on the internet. In those days the internet was a fledgling environment for insurance and there was some “brochure ware” but little in the way of insurance transactions. It was clear from the audience participation that selling insurance on the internet would be a viable business but it was also clear that there would be a great deal of time and financial support expended before the correct model for selling insurance on the internet was formulated. Many insurance websites raised large sums of capital in the early days but squandered it on advertising. Everyone bought hits and clicks and “eyeballs” and anything else they could find to get traffic to come to their sites. The problem was that the potential insureds wanted to shop at that time but not buy on the internet. Insurance companies spent much of the money that they had raised in the advertising world and in the end many of them had to sell even larger pieces of their companies or the whole company in order to continue its operations. E-INSURESM Services Inc maintained a slow and steady growth plan and our goal has always been to provide value for the insurance customer.

The E-INSURESM Services Inc. websites were designed to provide a free online platform where consumers could easily find multiple insurance carriers and quotes for a variety of insurance products such as auto insurance, business insurance, health insurance, and home insurance. Specialty insurance products and financial services provider information were also available on the site. E-INSURESM Services Inc. also provide online tools such as an insurance glossary that could help one understand one’s insurance policy and help one determine which types of insurance are best suited to their needs. While this has always been a noble cause, in the early years many visitors would travel through the site and ask questions and call E-INSURESM with questions. E-INSURESM Services Inc. received many inquires about insurance and learned from that experience that insurance buyers were not ready to buy insurance on the internet until the quality of the offerings were different from that which was available in the then standard insurance market. Even today, there are a handful of insurance companies that are able to offer lower prices because they operate in a virtual rather than physical environment.

Our first websites were colorful and eye-catching but cluttered and cerebral. They were designed for their artistic and entertainment value as much as for their function. We had multi-colored navigation bars, we had segmented globes; we had a picture of an insurance guru, just to name a few. We also had various functions; direct to carrier, direct to agent and indirect to aggregation portals. In the end we have found that a combination of the above that gives the best experience to our customers is the best approach.

If you visit our site today, you will see an ever changing presentation of insurance products and services designed for the consumer. We continue to evolve and mold the site as our audience needs change. We hope you will find out site useful and helpful in your search for insurance answers and insurance quotes.
