Car Crashes and Chases – A Hollywood Staple
Let’s face it, a Hollywood action flick isn’t complete without a high-speed car chase, more often than not, resulting in the bad guys crashing and burning (quite literally) in explosive car crashes. And while Hollywood action stars might emerge from their vehicles after car crashes without a single scratch on them, for the rest of us mortals, it’s quite a different ballgame. Not only is it probable that your insurance company would drop you for ONE of these stunts. It is almost assuredly going to cause your untimely demise. EINSURANCE does not advise that you emulate any of these scenes.
With that being said, let’s take a look at some of the most iconic car chase scenes from the movies.
Ronin’s high-speed car chases set in the Port of Nice and tunnels of Paris are unforgettable. Peugeot and Mercedes go head-to-head against BMW for a thrilling chase at break-neck speed. The most iconic scene has to be when Robert De Niro sticks out of the sunroof of his Merc and blows the bad guys to smithereens with a rocket launcher!
The Blues Brothers
Evading the cops by crashing through the aisles of bike accessories in a toy store and then wreaking havoc at the mall makes the car chase scene from The Blues Brothers one of the coolest in cinematic history. Takes window shopping to a whole new level!
Jason Statham is nice enough to remind his crew to put on their seatbelts. Good for them, because Statham veers his stick-shift Beamer in and out of narrow lanes, almost getting himself into an auto accident or two along the way. But like all Hollywood action heroes, Statham has the reflexes of a jungle cat. And talk about a tire burnout!
Fast and the Furious
The Fast and Furious franchise gives auto buffs their regular fix every year, and Tokyo Drift was no different. Nissan versus Nissan fight it out in a drifting battle in an underground garage. Listen intently for the gear-shifts.
Now, while all these car chases have probably got your adrenaline pumping and you can’t wait to get behind that steering wheel, remember that most of these sequences were shot by stunt drivers. In real life, unfortunately, there are no stunt drivers and no retakes. You get just one shot to drive safely and avoid car crashes and auto accidents.

The costs of an auto accident are quite substantial, leading victims to incur costs related to medical expenses, motor vehicle damage, wage and productivity losses, and administrative expenses. This can burn a pretty big hole in your pocket. That is why you should safeguard yourself with an adequate auto insurance cover.
