Which Top 10 Car of 2019 Has the Best Insurance Rate?

Now that we’re well into the new year, and the holiday expenses have been absorbed, car manufacturers have flooded the market with their respective new and improved ‘toys.’ Undoubtedly, each new 2019 model car is far better than last years, and a must have item.

To aid you in sifting through which new car may be best for you, EINSURANCE has completed its annual analysis to reveal which new car carries the best insurance rates. The vehicles that made the cut for our analysis this year are those chosen by Consumer Reports. Each year, Consumer Reports chooses through a gamut of extensive prodding and probing, the top 10 cars for the year (in no specific order). They base their list on car characteristics such as reliability, safety evaluations, track test performances, and several other factors.

The top 10 cars for 2019 represent all ends of the market. You have everything from a luxury SUV such as the BMW X5 and the ‘green’ subcompact Toyota Prius, and everything in between. In addition, these top 10 cars represent a significant range in pricing; over $45 thousand separate the most and least expensive car.

EINSURANCE Survey Methodology

In efforts to reveal how the top 10 cars of 2019 stack up to each other regarding insurance rates, we conducted a survey which included compiling over 29 separate quotes from Geico, Progressive and Esurance (note that the 2019 Audi A4 was not listed as a car option for Progressive).

For the purposes of this analysis we used the 2019 base Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for each car and their respective 2019 base models. Our hypothetical driver looking for insurance had the following characteristics:

  • Female
  • 33 years old
  • Owns Condo
  • Owns Vehicle
  • No accidents/traffic violations in past 5 years
  • Highest Level of Education: Masters
  • Located in the city of Chicago, IL
  • Annual Mileage: 9k – 9,999k
  • Occupation: Business Consultant
  • Bodily Injury Limit: $100k / $300k

Analysis Results

As you could imagine, many of the most expensive cars were coupled with the most expensive insurance rates. In fact, four of the top five cars in terms of price find themselves included in the bottom five cars in terms of the Best Insurance Rate list. The opposite holds true as well, whereby the most reasonably priced cars are coupled with some of the best insurance rates.

The 2019 Honda Kona carried the lowest insurance rates, however, we at EINSURANCE consider the 2019 Subaru Ascent the car that carries the most value. Although the Subaru Ascent is the third most expensive car on the list, it is coupled with the fourth best insurance rate. This juxtaposition of car price and insurance rate hints towards the value the Subaru Ascent carries. Its safety features, ability to hold its value, and several other positive factors are reasons why the 2019 Subaru Ascent can carry a reasonable insurance rate.

So, although you’ll pay a hefty price to purchase the 2019 Subaru Ascent, you’ll also gain pricing relief each year through favorable insurance rates.

We at EINSURANCE hope this analysis helps you in your quest to find your new car. Although we feel the 2019 Subaru Ascent provides the best value out of the Top 10 Cars of 2019, there are several others that could be right for you after you incorporate your budget and personal tastes. Remember when you finally make your purchase, you can find the right coverage, and rate for your new car at EINSURANCE.com.
