How Does Pet Insurance Work

What Is Pet Insurance?

Pet health insurance generally covers accidents and illnesses to your dog or cat. In most cases hereditary issues and pre-existing conditions are not covered, however certain policies can be purchased that cover specific hereditary problems.

Each company and policy offers different options, so make sure to check your policy to get a better understanding of what is covered.

How Does It Work?

Pet insurance is one of the fastest growing insurance products in the U.S. Most pet insurance policies are similar to health insurance. You choose a deductible, select a co-pay percentage, pay for coverage on a monthly basis, seek treatment, pay the vet directly, and then get reimbursed for covered treatment.
